Nascido no Rio de Janeiro, Cristiano é músico profissional desde 1992. Tem como principal influência musical, o seu pai Novelli, renomado contrabaixista, compositor e produtor.

Estudou com Robertinho Silva, Élcio Cáfaro, Guilherme Gonçalves, na Escola de Música Villa-Lobos, na UNIRIO e no San Diego Mesa College.
Foi professor da Escola Mais que Música e da Oficina de Música Elisa Messina no Rio (1999-2001). Foi professor da Twentyman School of Music em San Diego, Califórnia (2001-2003) e substituto no departamento de bateria da Los Angeles Music Academy (LAMA) em Los Angeles, Califórnia, Estados Unidos onde morou por 10 anos (2001 a 2010).

Cristiano, já tocou nos Estados Unidos, Europa, Caribe e pelo Brasil afora.
Participou de importantes shows como o projeto"Filhos de Peixe" no Teatro Rival (1995) acompanhando Bena Lobo e Milton Nascimento; "Novos Cariocas" no Mistura Fina (1997) acompanhando Bena Lobo, Daniel Gonzaga e Carol Sabóia; Tributo a Rosinha Valença no Canecão (2000) acompanhando Claudette Soares; Tributo a Baden Powell no Miracosta College (2001) em Oceanside, Ca; The 6th Annual Latin Grammys Awards (2005) no Shrine Auditorium em Los Angeles acompanhando Diego Torres (Argentina), Olga Tañon (Porto Rico) e Alexandre Pires; Red, White & Bluezz Jazz Festival (2010) em Arcadia, Ca com Greg Porée; dentre outros.

Cristiano tocou com diversos artistas como MPB-4, Milton Nascimento, Golden Boys, Miúcha, Paula Morelenbaum, Claudette Soares, Nelson Ângelo, Rique Pantoja, Rafael Greyck, Guilherme Vergueiro, Daniel Gonzaga, Kiko Furtado, Carol Sabóia, Bena Lobo, dentre outros.

Internacionalmente, tocou com David Foster, Peter Sprague, Greg Porée, Robert Kyle, Dorian Holley, Dawn Bishop, Roberto Montero, Kleber Jorge, Mitchell Long, Kátia Moraes, Patrice Rushen, Alphonso Jonhson, Hussain Jiffry, Gary Meek, Erica Gimpel, Ryan Cross, Louis Van Taylor, Calé, Dirk K, Dean Taba, Andy Suzuki, Keith Jones, Kimera, Marcelo Cáceres, Marco Tulio, José Marino, Octavio Bailly,  Mario Olivares, Kamau Kenyatta, Otmaro Ruiz, Aaron Serfati, Jon Gilutin, Joe Cano, dentre outros.

Atualmente faz parte do grupo Quartet Equinox com o guitarrista Dirk K, o baixista Dean Taba e o saxofonista/flautista Andy Suzuki. O som do grupo é uma mistura de flamenco e jazz. O grupo participa de festivais de jazz anualmente. 
Faz parte também do duo Montero & Novelli com o guitarrista e cantor Roberto Montero.

Drummer/Percussionist Cristiano Novelli was born in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has studied at Villa-Lobos School of Music, University of Rio de Janeiro, San Diego Mesa College, and privately with Robertinho Silva, Elcio Caffaro, Guilherme Gonçalves, and Nick Karvon. He has been playing professionally for over 14 years. He has toured throughout Europe, Brazil, U.S., and Caribbean. In the year of 2001 he moved to San Diego, California where he taught at Twentyman's School of Music from 2001 to 2003. He was also the music columnist for the newspaper Brazilian Pacific Times in 2002. He moved to Los Angeles, California in the year of 2004. His biggest influence is his father, the great bass player, songwriter and producer Novelli.
